SKATHÁRI [σκαθα’ρι] is the Greek word for beetle, a sacred insect to Aphrodite, symbolizing love, beauty, and fertility in Greek mythology. In some myths, the beetle was seen as a symbol of transformation and rebirth, as it emerges from its larval stage to become a beautiful adult beetle.
“Additionally, the beetle was sometimes associated with the sun god Apollo, believed to be a messenger of the sun. And, we all know that nothing compares to the Greek sun!” Maria says.
